Charles Wood Composers' Competition

The Charles Wood Festival is pleased to announce the launch of a new composition competition.

Entrants are invited to compose a new choral setting of Hail, Gladdening Light - text which Charles Wood used for one of his most iconic settings.

Three finalists will be invited to Armagh in August 2023 to hear their pieces performed by members of the Charles Wood Singers.

The competition jury panel will include the renowned choral composer Bob Chilcott and the Charles Wood Festival’s Artistic Director David Hill.

The winning entry will be performed at the Festival’s Gala Concert on Friday 25th August, and a recording of the work will be made.
